World’s largest Tibetan Buddhist Institute

Ten of thousands monks and nuns live in these red log cabins in Seda Larong Wuming Buddhist Institute, the largest and most influential center for the study of Tibetan Buddhism in the world, situated in Larung valley, Seda county, Garze (Ganzi) Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan, China.

Seda Larung Wuming was founded in 1980 and every year attracts thousands of students, who undertake six to thirteen years of training. Reports on Chinese social media network Sina Weibo said that fires had been reported before at the site, which is mainly made up of wooden structures. [China.org.cn]
