-- Zambia's power utility said it has saved about 122 megawatts of electricity after the distribution of about 2.5 million energy saving bulbs across the country.
Zesco Limited spokesperson Henry Kapata said the company was expected to save an additional 200 megawatts of power upon the completion of the distribution of the energy saving bulbs. He said the power utility was certain that it would procure 500,000 energy saving bulbs before the close of this year because the target was to save as much electricity as possible.
Zambia has banned the manufacture and use of ordinary bulbs in preference for energy saving bulbs as one way to save electricity due to a power deficit. (Daily Nation) Endit
