Xinhua, July 25, 2016 Adjust font size:

Three people were killed and eight others were injured when two vans collided head-on on Sunday in a serious traffic accident in southern Albania, the Albanian Daily News newspaper reported.

Police sources said that human error might have caused the accident, which took place in the Gjirkastra-Tepelena road segment.

Police officer Albania Hasani and her two-year old son travelling in one of the vans, and another child in the other van lost their lives in the accident.

Other people involved in the accident received injuries, and those who were in a critical condition were transported by helicopter to the Hospital of Trauma in the capital city of Tirana.

Doctor Dritan Cela said two of the three critically injured individuals were children.

"So far, three injured people have arrived at our hospital. The two children are in a very critical condition," Cela said. Endi
