5 presumed accomplices of Nice attacker may be formally investigated: report

Xinhua, July 21, 2016 Adjust font size:

Five people in custody for questioning over the Nice attack would appear before a judge and could be formally investigated, BFMTV reported Thursday.

Four men and a woman, aged between 22 and 40, have been questioned by an anti-terrorism unit over their links with Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, who drove his heavy truck into revelers celebrating the French national day in the southern city of Nice a week ago.

One of the five people had received a text message from the attacker mentioning gun purchase, the investigation showed.

The Islamic State has claimed the attack, saying Bouhlel was one of its "soldiers."

The attack killed 84 people, including many foreigners, and wounded many others. Endi
