Mexico aims to improve highway networks to boost competitiveness

Xinhua, July 21, 2016 Adjust font size:

Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto said Wednesday that his country will improve highway networks to boost competitiveness.

It is very difficult for other countries to invest in Mexico if there is no good infrastructure, be them highways, harbors or railways, he told the inauguration ceremony for a highway in the central State of Mexico.

"We have outlined a master plan in order to connect different regions of our country that previously weren't connected," said the president.

The goal is to build 26 more highways and modernize 57 out of 80 federal highways.

Up until now, 28,000 km of rural roads have been finished. "Dedicating resources to building rural roads and their extensions are especially significant," said the president. Endi
