Singapore stocks close 0.85 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 24.19 points, or 0.85 percent, to close at 2,870.56.

A total of 1.05 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 904.4 million Singapore dollars (669.9 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 263 to 126, while 516 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 5.44 points, or 0.19 percent, to close at 2,846.37 on Friday. Endit
