Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited, a UK company providing audit, consulting, financial advisory, risk management, tax and related services, launched its first Asia Pacific campus here on Monday to cultivate leadership skills for practitioners.
Based on its experience in the United States, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India, Deloitte has set up Deloitte University Asia Pacific (DU AP) in the city state. Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic and Social Policies Tharman Shanmugaratnam attended Monday's launching ceremony.
CEO of Deloitte Global Punit Renjen said the company is pleased to bring this program to the Asia Pacific region which is regarded a critical engine to the world's future economic growth.
The program within the DU AP curriculum has been designed to ensure that learning remains an integral part of the workplace and is practically applied in a effective way, said Deloitte. The courses will be led by current Deloitte leaders who will share their knowledge and on-the-job experiences in a tailored classroom setting.
"We chose Singapore for the campus because of its role as a regional business center and economic hub," said Ko Asami, Deloitte University Asia Pacific Dean. "Deloitte University Asia Pacific will help us attract and retain talent."
Kelvin Wong, assistant managing director of Singapore's Economic Development Board (EDB), thought that Deloitte's decision to locate its first Asia Pacific campus to Singapore is a testament to the city state's strong talent base and its position as the center of hub services in Asia. Meanwhile, Deloitte's decision will be a great boost to talent development in Asia. Enditem
