Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao met with Cuban leader Raul Castro's special envoy Salvador Valdes Mesa on Monday in Beijing.

Li, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, welcomed Valdes, a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), to Beijing to brief the Chinese side on the PCC's seventh Congress.

Li said the CPC and the PCC have been supporting and learning from each other in the socialist causes, and the party-to-party ties are playing a leading role in the bilateral relationship.
