Albanian employment rate increases in agriculture, services sector in Q1 2016

In the first quarter of 2016, the employment rate increased 3.6 percent in the agriculture sector and 2.1 percent in the services sector, the Albanian National Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) said Tuesday.

According to INSTAT's labor force survey, in the first three months of 2016, the labor force participation rate for the population aged 15 to 64 was 65.9 percent.

Compared to the fourth quarter of 2015, though the employment rate in the agriculture and services sectors increased, the number employed in industry slightly decreased by 0.1 percent.

The employment rate for the population over 15 years old increased 15.5 percent year-on-year over the period.

During the first quarter of 2016, the share of employees aged 15 to 64 years accounted for 41.3 percent of the total number of employees, the self-employed accounted for 33.5 percent, whereas unpaid family workers represented 25.2 percent of the total employment.

The INSTAT survey also informed that the employment rate (population aged 15 to 64) was higher for those with vocational secondary education (64.4 percent). Endit
