1st LD: Bridge under construction collapses in central Indonesia, leaving 3 dead, 5 badly wounded

Xinhua, June 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

Three workers were killed and five others sustained serious injuries after a bridge under construction collapsed in West Nusa Tenggara province of central Indonesia on Tuesday, an official of the local disaster management agency said.

The accident took place at about 15: 00 p.m. local time when the eight workers were conducting construction works for the bridge in Lombok Timur district, said Agung Pramuja, head of the emergency department at the provincial disaster management agency.

"When they were pouring cement into a part of the construction, suddenly the bridge collapsed," he told Xinhua by phone from the province.

All the wounded workers have been rushed to a nearby hospital and treated, Pramuja added. Enditem
