Vice premier urges all parties to participate in food safety regulation

Vice Premier Wang Yang stressed Tuesday that various interested parties should all participate in food safety regulation.

The government should accelerate making or revising relevant laws and regulations, as well as improve mechanisms for food safety regulation and information disclosure, Wang said at an event that promoted food safety awareness.

He called on enterprises to fulfill their responsibilities and obligations stipulated by the law, and ensure supervision over all phases of food production.

The media should give full play to its supervisory role, Wang said, also urging the public to participate in food safety regulation and safeguard their legal rights and interests with knowledge and the law.

In recent years, China has seen overall improvement in food safety, Wang said, vowing zero tolerance for any misconduct. Endi
