Spanish treasury places more than 5 bln euros on market

The Spanish treasury placed on Tuesday treasury bills with a value of 5.022 billion euros (5.626 billion U.S. dollars) on the market registering a demand of 7.7 billion euros.

A total of 4.101 billion euros worth of 12-month treasury bills carried an average interest rate of -0.078 percent compared to the -0.154 percent of the previous issue.

The placement also included 921 million euros worth of six-month treasury bills that fetched an average interest rate of -0.145 percent compared to the -0.264 percent of the previous auction.

The treasury will hold another auction on Thursday to place up to 5.5 billion euros on the market. (1 euro = 1.12 U.S. dollars) Endit
