China to continue support for Ethiopian school feeding program

China will continue to provide support to school feeding program in Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa, which enables provision of healthy meals and education opportunity for tens of thousands of destitute children, Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia La Yifan said.

La also expressed China's commitment to supporting Ethiopia's efforts in social and economic development.

The Ambassador made the remarks on Monday during a special event organized in connection with the School Feeding Program jointly implemented by the Office of the First Lady of Ethiopia and Ye Enat Weg Charitable Association, which benefits 20,000 students at primary schools in Addis Ababa.

The event was organized to celebrate achievements and discuss ways of going forward with the program.

The Chinese Ambassador said China partners with Ethiopia in all endeavors geared towards ensuring social and economic prosperity.

He said that the Embassy, the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation (CFPA) and the Chinese business community in Ethiopia have been supporting the program aimed at benefiting the young people who are the future of the nation.

He also stated that CFPA has created an account (website) to solicit support in China not only from organizations but also from individuals to the school feeding program. Endit
