Lithuania eager to import crude and oil products from Iran

Xinhua, May 31, 2016 Adjust font size:

Lithuania is considering to import Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), crude oil as well as other oil products from Iran, Iran's deputy oil minister Amir Hossein Zamaninia said here on Monday.

Lithuania has managed to reduce its dependence on Russian energy supplies, as it possesses invaluable experience in the area of LNG, Zamaninia said in the sidelines of a meeting with the visiting Lithuanian deputy energy minister Aleksandras Spruogis.

"Lithuania seeks to truncate its dependence on Russia from the current 90 to 50 percent," he said, according to Iran's Petro-Energy Information Network.

Within this framework, Lithuanian officials have made proposals to cooperate with Iran on shale oil, LNG and gas production, and Iran will consider their proposals over technical cooperation in the field, Zamaninia was quoted as saying.

Also, negotiations will be made with Lithuania's private sectors as they are eager to import crude and oil products from Iran, he added. Endit
