Four people have lost their lives as a result of violent flooding caused by heavy rains in the southwestern German state of Baden-Wurttemberg, German media DPA reported on Monday.

The violent storm have struck the southwestern German state since Sunday, with the town of Schwabisch Gmund in the East Wurttemberg region suffering the most, where a firefighter died trying to rescue someone from floodwaters.

The state of Bavaria, Rheinland-Pfalz and Hessen saw the heavy rainfall as well, which led to losses at different levels in farmland and vineyards. Shipping in Neckar River suspended on Monday due to flood in its tributaries.

Sustained rainfall may still be seen in coming days in southern Germany, according to the latest weather report. Endit
