HK union protests Obama's visit to Hiroshima

Hong Kong and Kowloon Trades Union Council protested outside the Consulate-General of Japan in Hong Kong on Friday, opposing U.S. President Barack Obama's visit to Hiroshima, Japan.

Carrying signs and banners inscribed with Chinese and English slogans including "No visit Hiroshima, Mr Obama" and "Japan apologize," a few protesters from the union gathered at the Exchange Square in Central where the Consulate-General of Japan located.

The union's chairman Lee Kwok Keung told the media that they were there to oppose Obama's visit to Hiroshima this afternoon and to demand that the Japanese government apologize for their invasion against Asian countries during World War II. They have written a petition letter with all these demands to Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Lee said Obama's visit beautifies and glorifies the invasion of Japan and victimizes Hiroshima, adding that during his visit, the U.S. president should condemn Japan's invasion during WWII. Endit
