FIFA President welcomes CONMEBOL's restructuring process

FIFA President Gianni Infantino welcomed the restructuring process of South America's soccer ruling body CONMEBOL, local press reported on Thursday.
According to Mexican sports daily Cancha, the world soccer chief attended the opening of CONMEBOL Congress which took place during the 66th FIFA Congress in Mexico City.
"I feel like home. CONMEBOL had a rough time but we are going to work it out, we are moving forward with changes towards a new stage," said Infantino.
"This is a new stage when we are clearly working under new rules," he added.
Infantino admitted that in South America football is a matter of heart and passion, so he urged the ones involved to remain united to begin the necessary changes.
"The reforms that CONMEBOL will begin are the path towards progress. We have already begun and we will continue," he said.
Alejandro Dominguez, CONMEBOL President, said 90 percent of the budget will be addressed totally to football activities.
On the other hand, Arturo Salah, President of the Chilean Federation, was elected as third vice president of CONMEBOL, while Ecuadorian Maria Sol Munoz and Wilmar Valdez, from the Uruguayan Association, were elected as members of FIFA Council. Enditem
