Toyota to recall 19,529 vehicles in China

Xinhua, May 12, 2016 Adjust font size:

Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co. will recall some imported Lexus vehicles over defective engines in China, the country's top quality watchdog said on Thursday.

The recall, set to begin on Friday, will involve 19,529 vehicles produced between July 7, 2015 and April 5, 2016, according to a statement on the website of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.

Programs controlling exhaust gas re-circulation valves may fail in the affected vehicles and may cause the engines to stop, said the statement.

Toyota promised to check and update the programs free of charge. Endi
