The following are highlights of South African major media outlets on Tuesday.

-- Five fresh measures to deal with the economy were announced on Monday night by the government and business leaders. They will include R180bn investment in energy in the next three years.

A joint public and private sector small-business fund on a 50-50 basis was another of the main measures. Already, the private sector has pledged about R1.6bn to the fund. (Business Day)

-- Eleven people accused of burning down schools in Vuwani, Limpopo, appeared in the Malamulele Magistrates' Court on Monday.

Magistrate Godwin Ntsane postponed the case to May 16 for a formal bail application. The 11 remain in custody.(City Press)

-- National Prosecuting Authority boss Shaun Abrahams faces the toughest test of his career as a prosecutor as he weighs his options whether or not to reinstate the 783 criminal charges against President Jacob Zuma. He has until next week to make the crucial decision.(Mail & Guardian) Endit
