Singapore stocks close 0.9 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 24.91 points, or 0.9 percent, to close at 2,741.15.

A total of 856.9 million shares changed hands with turnover of 913.1 million Singapore dollars (666.5 million U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 224 to 160, while 531 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 35.26 points, or 1.29 percent, to close at 2,766.06 on Monday. Endit
