Ethiopia marks 75th anniversary of Patriots Victory Day

Ethiopia on Thursday celebrated the 75th anniversary of the Patriots Victory Day, which marks the fight of gallant Ethiopian patriots against the then Italian forces and the end of the five-year occupation in the East African country in 1941.

The Day was celebrated at the Victory Square in Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia, with the presence of senior governments officials, diplomats, members of the Ethiopian Patriots Association, and residents of Addis Ababa.

Laying wreath at the Victory Monument, President Mulatu Teshome of Ethiopia reiterated that the victory of Ethiopian patriots is inspirational to other African countries.

Taking the opportunity, the President also called on the youth to be inspired by the victory of patriots to fight against and defeat poverty.

The 75th anniversary of the Patriots Day also features a week-long activities including historical and cultural symposiums and exhibitions. Endit
