Kenya's tourism marketers plan to step up marketing campaign at the regional event in South Africa this week to market the east African nation as the final destination to attract more visitors.

The East Africa nation will be among over 10,000 exhibitors showcasing her tourism products in Africa's leading tourism fair Indaba to be held in Durban.

Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) Acting CEO Jacinta Nzioka-Mbithi said Thursday the exhibition will provide a platform for the country to drive the message of a new business environment after numerous government initiatives to boost tourism numbers from emerging and source markets.

"With the new initiatives to promote travel to our country, Indaba will be best suited to extensively promote our fascinating tourism offerings and world-class hospitality services to the region and the world besides highlighting this destination as an investment hub and its other facets," she said in a statement issued in Nairobi.

KTB is leading over 10 companies from travel and hotel industry for the three-day exhibition in South Africa from May 7-9.

The exhibition comes at a time when Kenya is enjoying peace that has given a fresh breath to the industry that had been faced with myriad of challenges in the recent past.

"We will also be taking full advantage of this opportunity to reach out to industry players and members of the media from across the world in a bid to increase our database from the travel trade," Nzioka-Mbithi said.

Indaba is one of the largest tourism marketing events on the African calendar showcasing the widest variety of Southern Africa's best tourism products and for the last four years, the fair has won the award for Africa's best travel and tourism show. Endit
