Nairobi bourse trading subdued on Thursday

Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) recorded subdued trading on Thursday as prices of a majority of top movers remained unchanged while others fell marginally.

Safaricom, Diamond Trust Bank and Equity Bank are some of the big movers at the bourse whose prices remained unchanged, closing the day at 0.17 U.S. dollars, 2 dollars and 0.40 dollars.

On the other hand, Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) Group and Cooperative Bank are some of the key stocks whose prices went down to 0.39 dollars (0.6 percent) and 0.18 dollars (1.03 percent) respectively.

Market turnover stood at 4.2 million dollars, a drop from previous trading session's 5.1 million dollars, with Safaricom, Athi River Mining (ARM), KCB, Kenol Kobil and Britam accounting for 85 percent of total turnover.

A total of 21.2 million shares were traded Thursday, a slight rise from 19.2 million in the previous trading session.

The NSE 20 Share Index went down 0.30 percent to close at 3,977.85 as it continued with a downward trend. The All share Index (NASI), similarly, was down 0.06 percent to close at 145.63 while the NSE 25 Share Index closed the day at 4,213.37.

Foreign participation stood at 67 percent while locals accounted for the rest of the trading. Bond turnover went up 103 percent to close at 40 million dollars. Endit
