Sri Lankan president to visit Britain, India

Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena is expected to undertake a visit to Britain and India next week, foreign ministry officials said here on Thursday.
The officials said that Sirisena is expected to leave for Britain on May 11 to attend the Anti-Corruption Summit organized by the British government. He has been extended an invitation by British Prime Minister David Cameron.
The Anti Corruption Summit will bring together world leaders, business and civil society leaders to agree with a package of practical steps to expose corruption, punish the perpetrators and support those affected by corruption and drive out the culture of corruption wherever it exists.
Siisena is then expected to leave for India on May 13 to attend a Hindu festival taking place in the Madhya Pradesh state which will be inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The two leaders are expected to hold discussions on the sidelines of the festival and discuss issues of mutual interest including a trade pact with India which the two countries hope to sign by mid this year. Endit
