Guangdong police bust major drug smuggling case

Police have busted a huge drug smuggling gang in south China's Guangdong Province, with 28 suspects detained, including 15 from Taiwan.

It is the biggest drug case local police have busted this year. About 717 kilograms of methamphetamine were confiscated, along with nine pistols, 11 luxury cars, 1.5 million yuan (230,700 U.S. dollars) and 2 million Hong Kong dollars (257,800 U.S. dollars) worth of cash, according to the provincial department of public security.

Guangdong police have busted 2,804 drug cases in the first quarter of this year, with 3,433 suspects detained and 4.83 tonnes of drugs confiscated, said Deng Jianwei, head of the anti-drug bureau under the provincial department of public security. Endi
