Tusk calls for global awareness on migration, refugee crisis

Xinhua, May 4, 2016 Adjust font size:

European Council President Donald Tusk here on Tuesday said people need to build a global awareness on migration and refugee crisis.

He made the call ahead of his meeting with visiting Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, urging the international community to step up efforts in solving the migration and refugee crisis.

"This is a global crisis and we need to realize that no single country -- or no group of countries for that matter -- holds a golden key to solving it," he said.

"The international community needs to acknowledge that countries like Lebanon or Jordan are providing a global public good in assisting refugees. This public good has to be financed by the global community," he added. Endit
