Singapore stocks close 0.96 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 27.32 points, or 0.96 percent, to close at 2,811.20.

A total of 901.1 million shares changed hands with turnover of 1.08 billion Singapore dollars (801.2 million U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 258 to 151, while 504 others finished unchanged.

The STI index lost 23.78 points, or 0.83 percent, to close at 2,838.52 on April 29. The stock market was closed on Monday because of public holiday. Endit
