Alinghi leads in Qingdao events of Extreme Sailing Series

Xinhua, May 1, 2016 Adjust font size:

Swiss yacht Alinghi won two first prizes out of six rounds on Sunday, securing its first place in Qingdao events of the 2016 ISAF Extreme Sailing Series.

Ranking the second on Saturday, Sail Portugal only won a third prize on Sunday and was surpassed by Oman Air.

The One from China, which took part in the sailing series for the first time, made a big progress, as it crossed the finish line first in the last round.

"We are a complete new team, but we try harder and harder everyday. It's lucky that we predicted all wind directions right in the last round," said Liu Xue, a Chinese sailor of the One.

"It gave me both pressure and energy that my relatives and friends came to see the games, and I hope I could do better in competition on last day," said Liu Xue.

The Act 2 of the 2016 ISAF Extreme Sailing Series is running in Qingdao from April 29 to May 2.

It marks the 10th anniversary of the ISAF Extreme Sailing Series this year, which has visited Qingdao six times in a row. Endit
