The following are highlights in Ethiopia's major media outlets on Thursday.

-- Irish musician Robert 'Bob' Geldof has paid tribute to progresses achieved in the various fields of development in Ethiopia. The singer-songwriter, who founded Band Aid to raise money for the 1984 famine relief in Ethiopia, is overwhelmed by massive developments in infrastructure and agriculture sectors throughout Ethiopia.

-- A prosecutor in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), has dropped the charges on six Ethiopian meat exporters over allegations that they had exported meat that did not meet the required quality standards.

The charge filed by Tareeq Al Huda Meat and Foodstuff, an importer based in UAE alleged the company had received a "not-up to-the standard" meat from the six Ethiopian meat exporters during a period exceeding over six months. The charges came at a time when the six Ethiopian meat exporters had been in Dubai to take part in the Gulf Food exhibition which was held from February 21-25, 2016.

-- Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP) and a Chinese firm, TBEA Contractor Limited on Wednesday signed a contract agreement amounting to USD 98 million for power transmission project.

Engineer Azeb Asnake, CEO of EEP and Xue Fen, Deputy General Manager of TBEA Co. Ltd signed the agreement here in Addis Ababa. Accordingly, TBEA will handle the construction of Bole-Lemi and Kilinto Industry Zone power transmission project. (Fana Broadcasting Corporate/FBC)

-- Canada has supported Ethiopia's candidature for a non-permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council. The announcement came on Tuesday during a review session of the 5th Bilateral Political Consultation held in Ottawa Canada.
