Authority in China publicizes 10 piracy cases

Xinhua, April 19, 2016 Adjust font size:

China's National Office Against Pornographic and Illegal Publications on Tuesday disclosed 10 piracy cases uncovered since last year.

The cases included the publishing and selling of pirated books, the sale of illegal audiovisual products, the sharing of animations without a license, and a game suspected of copyright infringement, according to the office.

Involving over 15 million U.S. dollars, the cases were in Beijing, the provinces of Jiangsu, Henan, Shandong and Sichuan, as well as Guangxi Zhuang and Ningxia Hui autonomous regions, the office said.

In some cases, the offenders have been fined or sentenced to prison time, and in others the suspects are in police custody, pending further investigation. Endi
