Cuba's Communist Party (PCC) Monday approved the Draft of the National Plan for Economic and Social Development, which will be the guiding document of the Cuban planning system until 2030.
"This document is designed in a comprehensive and integral way to guide ... development and solve structural imbalances in the island's economy with a strategic and determined medium- and long-term vision," said the draft offered to the 993 delegates gathered at the Seventh Congress of the PCC.
The draft defines the strategic goals of the development, and identifies key economic sectors to receive investments.
It will be submitted to a consultation process by party members at lower levels, the Union of Young Communists, representatives of mass organizations and broad social sectors.
Following the popular consultation, the National Plan for Economic and Social Development must be finally approved by the PCC Central Committee and completed in 2017.
The Seventh PCC Congress ends Tuesday, when it will disclose the new members of the Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the First and Second Secretaries. Endi
