(Recast) Iceland's president says to run for sixth term

Iceland's President Olafur Ragnar Grimsson Monday announced he will run for re-election in June, according to a statement released by the president's office.
Having served as Iceland's head of state for 20 years, Grimsson said during the New Year speech in January that he decided not to seek a sixth consecutive term.
Grimsson said in Monday's statement that he has come under much pressure to stand again, "with people from all parts of the Icelandic society urging him to reconsider his previous decision."
Sigmundur David Gunnlaugsson resigned early this month from the post of Prime Minister and the ruling center-right coalition has decided to hold early general elections in the autumn. Endit
