China's top political adviser calls for cooperation with Africa in processing industry

Xinhua, April 14, 2016 Adjust font size:

China's top political adviser Yu Zhengsheng said Thursday that cooperation between China and Africa in processing industry will contribute to the economic development and employment in Africa.

Yu, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, made the remarks after a meeting with Cote d'Ivoire's Parliament Speaker Guillaume Soro.

Yu said Chinese enterprises, especially those in processing industry, are encouraged to invest in Africa. Such investment will improve the industrial level of the continent, create job opportunities and promote the economic development of African countries, he said.

On cooperation with Cote d'Ivoire, he said that China hopes to further enhance cooperation in industry, agriculture and tourism, building on cooperation in infrastructure.

China's cooperation with Cote d'Ivoire is not solely for the interests of China but for both countries, added Yu.

Yu is paying an official visit to Gabon, Cote d'Ivoire and Ghana.

Yu said his visit to Cote d'Ivoire is intended to promote friendly cooperation between the two countries in various areas, and to push forward the implementation of the 10 major plans for China-Africa cooperation, announced by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in 2015.
