Blast at livestock market kills 3, injures 6 in Somalia

At least three people were killed and six others injured in a blast at a livestock market in Afgoye town, about 30km south of the capital Mogadishu, on Wednesday, witnesses said.

The blast occurred when unknown gunmen hurled a hand grenade into the market which is frequented by livestock traders.

"It was hand grenade attack which occurred at the market where goats are being sold in Afgoye town. Three people including two police officers collecting tax were killed and six others, mostly civilians, injured," a witness told Xinhua, on condition of anonymity.

He added that some goats were also killed during the explosion, but the attackers escaped from the scene.

The witness said security officers are pursuing the attackers.

No group has claimed responsibility for the latest attack. Endit
