The following are highlights of South Africa's major media outlets on Thursday.
-- The Treasury says directors of state-owned armaments manufacturer Denel will face charges of financial misconduct if the board formed a new joint venture without the permission of Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan.
The statement by the Treasury on Wednesday is part of a broader bid by Mr Gordhan to reassert control over state-owned enterprises, some of which have flouted governance and Treasury rules to favour cronies in the awarding of contracts. (Business Day).
-- The appointment of the Speaker at Parliament is one of the controversial issues that is set to be taken up by the soon-to-be revived constitutional review committee.
This emerged following a two-hour closed door multi-party meeting yesterday that was convened by the Speaker Baleka Mbete to discuss the implications of the damning court finding that Parliament had acted inconsistently with the Constitution in its treatment of the Public Protector's report into Nkandla.(City Press)
-- The African National Congress (ANC) discouraged members from speaking out against Zuma and the party on Wednesday, and said it was harming the party.
