Tokyo shares open sharply lower on firm yen

Tokyo shares opened the trading Monday lower on the yen's advance that hurts export-related shares.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 193.37 points, or 1.22 percent, from Friday to 15,628.15.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 16.43 points, or 1.28 percent, to 1,271.26. Enditem
