The number of employed persons was recorded at 917,000, which has been decreasing since 2013 and was down by 8,000 or 8.1 percent in 2015 compared to 2014.

The highest unemployment rate remained in the 15 to 29 age group, at 16.4 percent, while the survey unemployment rate for women stood at 10.1 percent and for men at 8.1 percent, the national statistics office indicated.

The active working population remained the same size as in 2014, while the inactive population rose by 0.8 percent or 6,000 to 750,000 last year. Most of them were pensioners (67.9 percent) and students (18 percent).
