Two men dead in shooting at U.S. Air Force base in Texas

Two person were killed in a shooting incident at an Air Force base in the U.S. state of Texas on Friday.

The shooting happened at the Lackland Air Force Base near San Antonio, a city in southern Texas, and left the base locked down for nearly 2 hours, according to local TV station ABC13.

Two bodies were found inside a room of the base's building, and it is believed the shooter is among the two dead.

Brig. Gen. Robert Labrutta of the base said at a press conference that the bodies of two men, who remain unidentified, were found in a room in Forbes Hall near two firearms. It is unclear whether one individual had both guns or each man had a weapon, according to reports by local daily the Houston Chronicle.

The identities of the victims have not been released, but there is reports that a commanding officer of the base was shot by an airman.

Several law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, responded to the base, which last reported a population of just under 10,000 people. Schools and other military installations in the area were also shut down. Enditem
