Visitors got stuck mid-air on Singapore's rollercoaster

Xinhua, April 6, 2016 Adjust font size:

Singapore's recently re-opened roller-coaster thrilled visitors again, as it got stuck in mid-air due to a technical error on Wednesday afternoon, local media reported.

The incident happened at around 4 pm on the Battlestar Galactica: Human vs Cylon roller-coaster at Universal Studios Singapore, one of the most famous scenic spots in Singapore.

"Standard operating procedures were followed to evacuate riders safely from the lower section of the ride...The safety of our guests is our top priority and a thorough routine safety check was completed before we resumed the ride at 5.08 pm," a spokesman told TODAY, but didn't tell how many visitors were on board the roller-coaster.

This is not the first time that Battlestar Galactica, currently the world's tallest duelling roller-coaster had such technical problems.

In March 2010, it closed after a seat fell off during a routine check. It re-opened in February 2011, but closed again in July 2013 because it had to undergo a review. And it officially reopens to the public last May after the redesign of its ride vehicles. Enditem
