Shanghai SIPG tops group, Jiangsu Suning places 3rd in AFC Champions League

New-comers Shanghai SIPG savored its third straight victory as the Chinese club beat J-league Gamba Osaka 2-0 in an away game in Gruop G of the AFC Champions League (ACL) on Wednesday.

Wu Lei scored in 65th minute off a pass from Lv Wenjun before Lv himself doubled the lead six minutes later to seal the win. Thus, SIPG beat Gamba Osaka in both rounds of the 2016 ACL.

In another Group G game, Melbourne Victory FC tied Suwon Bluewings 1-1 to rank second with six points, three behind leaders SIPG who will take on Melbourne Victory FC and Suwon Bluewings in next two rounds.

In Group E, Jiangsu Suning of China, the former Jiangsu Sainty, suffered a 2-1 loss to FC Tokyo. And Becamex Binh Duong of Vietam beat Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors of South Korea 3-2.

FC Toyko jumped from third to top with seven points, one ahead of Jeonbuk Motors. And Jiangsu Suning slipped to third with five points while Becamex Binh Duong has four points.

Jiangsu Suning will next face Becamex Binh Duong and Jeonbuk Motors. Endi
