The following are highlights in major South African media outlets on Sunday.
-- One of the Rivonia trialists who was sentenced along with Nelson Mandela to life imprisonment on Robin Island, Ahmed Kathrada, has written a letter urging President Jacob Zuma to step down.
Saying it was painful for him to have to break from tradition and feel obliged to write to the President to express his concerns, Kathrada cautioned Zuma that his "outstanding contribution" to the liberation struggle stood to be severely tarnished if the remainder of his term as President continued "to be dogged by crises and a growing public loss of confidence in the ANC and government as a whole". (Business Day).
-- The National Assembly will debate a motion on Tuesday calling for the removal of President Jacob Zuma from office.
The motion was tabled by opposition DA leader Mmusi Maimane through a letter to National Assembly Speaker Baleka Mbete Thursday, just minutes after the Constitutional Court ruled that Zuma violated his oath of office and failed to uphold and defend the Constitution of the republic.
