Senior Chinese legal official Meng Jianzhu stressed the importance of learning for officials on legal and political work during a national legal seminar on Friday.

Meng, head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said legal and political work officials must pay high attention to lifelong learning, broaden their horizons and better perform the tasks bestowed by the Party and the people.

Meng asked them to apply what has been learned to daily practice, and be adept in drawing experience to improve their work and handle new issues.

Meng also urged to give first priority to the study of the speeches made by Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, to keep socialist ideas in mind and make new progress in the political and legal cause.

A total of 1.3 million political and legal officials across the country watched or listened to the speech. Endi
