Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang on Thursday was relieved from duty at the ongoing 11th session of the 13th National Assembly (NA) in Vietnam's capital Hanoi.

Sang was born on Jan. 21, 1949 in south Vietnam's Long An province. Sang joined the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) on Dec. 20, 1969.

Sang holds a bachelor degree in law. Sang was deputy to the 9th, 10th, 11th and 13th NA. Sang was a member of the 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th Central Committee of the CPV (CPVCC). Sang was member of the 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th CPVCC Politburo.

From 1966 to 1968, Sang was leader of the youth-student movement P.K.2 in building secret bases among students during Vietnam's Resistance War Against America.

From 1969 to 1971, Sang was a member of Long An province's party committee, Youth Union Secretary, managing a secret armed group of Duc Hoa town in Long An.

From 1971 to 1973, Sang was arrested by the enemy and detained in the Bien Hoa Prison in Vietnam's southern Phu Quoc island district. Sang was released in 1973 under the Paris Treaty.

From 1973 to April 1975, Sang was a cadre in charge of organization work at a department under the Central Reunification Committee.

From April 1975 to October 1978, Sang worked at the Gia Dinh Trade Union, deputy head of the Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC)'s New Economic Zone Development Department, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in HCMC's plantations and new economic zones.

From 1979 to August 1983, Sang became a member of the Party Committee of HCMC's Binh Chanh district, Director of the Pham Van Hai Farm and an alternate member of the HCMC Party Committee.

From 1983 to 1986, Sang served as Director of the HCMC Department of Forestry, member of HCMC Party Committee in charge of youth volunteer forces and the HCMC Land New Economic Zone Development Department.

From 1986 to 1988, Sang was a member of the Standing Board of the HCMC Party Committee, and Secretary of HCMC's Binh Chanh District Party Committee.

From 1988 to 1990, Sang was enrolled at the high-level Nguyen Ai Quoc Party School in Hanoi.

From 1990 to 1991, Sang was member of the Standing Board of the HCMC Party Committee and Director of HCMC Agriculture Department.

From 1991, Sang became a member of the CPVCC, and member of Standing Deputy Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee.

From 1992 to 1996, Sang worked as Deputy Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee, Vice Chairman and then Chairman of the HCMC People's Committee.

In 1996, Sang became a member of the CPVCC Politburo and Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee.

From January 2000, Sang acted as the CPVCC Politburo member and head of the CPVCC's Economic Commission.

From 2006 to 2011, Sang was standing member of the CPVCC Secretariat.

In July 2011, Sang was elected as President of Vietnam.

On Thursday, Sang was relieved from duty of Vietnamese president. Endit
