Singapore stocks close 1.11 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 31.88 points, or 1.11 percent, to close at 2,840.90.

A total of 2.35 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.33 billion Singapore dollars (985.2 million U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 224 to 161, while 536 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 53.70 points, or 1.9 percent, to close at 2,872.78 on Wednesday. Endit
