The Namibia football team, the Brave Warriors suffered an unexpected defeat at the hands of Burundi, losing 3-1 in their 2017 CAF AFCON Group K qualifier match played at the Sam Nujoma Stadium, Windhoek on Tuesday night.

Namibia's coach, Ricardo Mannetti took ownership of the defeat and said, "I take full responsibility as the captain of the ship for this defeat today."

"Leave my players and criticize me. It was a day that things just fell apart for us. After a great result in Burundi last Saturday we ought to have done better than the result we got today," he added.

As a result of the defeat, Namibia handed second spot to Burundi, which Namibia had initially attained on Saturday after the 3-1 first leg win in Burundi.

Burundi are now second on six points behind leaders Senegal who qualified with 12 points for the finals after beating Niger 2-1 in a match also played on Tuesday night.

Niger are third and Namibia fourth, both on three points and the two teams are set to lock horns in June, while the Senegal tie is slated for September. Endit
