Zambia records 210 road traffic accidents during Easter holiday

A total of 210 road traffic accidents were recorded on Zambian roads during the long Ester holiday, the police said on Wednesday.

Zambia Police deputy spokesperson Rae Hamoonga however said the figures recorded this year were a reduction compared to last year when 291 accidents were recorded during the same period, representing a 31 percent reduction.

During the same period, the police recorded a total of 15 fatal road traffic accidents compared to 21 recorded last year, indicating a 28 percent reduction in fatal road traffic accidents, he added.

The police spokesperson said a total of 21 people died during the road accidents compared to 49 last year, indicating a 57 percent decline. Endit
