The following are news highlights of Ethiopia's major media outlets on Wednesday.

-- Ethiopia's agricultural sector is in a period of historic transformation, as it shifts from being subsistence-based to market oriented, and is employing modern techniques to make differences in its yields, practices and results.

-- Ethio Telecom is set to put in place a system that helps prevent theft and use of below-standard handset as well as illegal external calls in not more than a month's time.

--Some 14 plastic factories operating in Addis Ababa have been producing thin plastic bags below the 0.03mm standard bin liner, a study conducted by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change revealed. Of these, two were operating without license from the government.
