Hungary reduces terrorism alert level to medium

Xinhua, March 30, 2016 Adjust font size:

Hungary's Interior Minister Sandor Pinter announced on Monday that Hungary was reducing its terrorism alert level from 2 to 3.

The threat level was raised to 2 following last Tuesday's terrorist bombings in Brussels, which left 35 people dead and over 300 injured.

Level 3 qualifies as a medium level alert, and it had been valid throughout Hungary prior to the Brussels' bombing because of concerns over the mass migration through Europe.

The decision to restore the Level 3 alert came after Belgian authorities identified the terrorists and made a number of arrests. Enditem
