4 killed after vehicle falls into gorge in Kashmir

Four people were killed after a vehicle they were travelling in skidded off the road and rolled down into a gorge in Indian-controlled Kashmir, police said Sunday.

The accident took place in mountainous Ramban district, 178 km south of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.

The deceased included driver of the vehicle belonging to a road construction company.

According to officials, the bodies of the deceased were shifted to the mortuary room of a nearby hospital.

The cause of accident was being ascertained, the police official said.

Deadly road accidents are common in this mountainous region often caused by overloading, bad condition of roads and reckless driving. Endit
