2nd LD Writethru: 1 injured in Kubul blast

Xinhua, March 26, 2016 Adjust font size:

- At least one person was injured after an explosion rocked the city center of Afghan capital Kabul on Friday evening, witnesses and sources said.

"The blast occurred at around 7:45 p.m. It took place after an Improvised Explosion Device (IED) attached to a bicycle stopped near a park was detonated," a security source told Xinhua.

"The target of the attack remained unknown but the sound of the explosion caused panic among residents in Makroryan, a locality that gives home to several apartment buildings and diplomatic offices," he said.

One pedestrian was injured by the blast and shifted to nearby hospital where he received treatment for no life--threatening wounds, the source noted.

Security forces have cordoned off the area for precautionary measures.

The Taliban militant group has claimed responsibility for the incident. Enditem
